Entry from: Ukiah, United States Entry Title: “Redwoods!!” Entry: “Today we drove through the Redwoods National Park and were amazed at the height and diameter of the mighty redwood trees. Many areas of the park are off limits to RVs, but we took the Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway which had little traffic and lots of places to stop and admire the trees and to take short hikes into the forst. We saw a herd of elk happily lying in a field by the road. We stopped for lunch in Samoa at the Samoa Cookhouse which was built in 1900 for the workers at a nearby pulp mill. It has retained its decor from that time and everyone is served the same meal in bowls on the table and you serve yourself. The portions were generous and seconds were available if you wished. In the afternoon we followed “The Avenue of the Giants” through more redwood forest areas. We were surprised and saddened to see the poverty in which many northern Californians live. There were entire towns where the housing was either old trailers or old delapidated shacks. We have seen more “vintage” cars and pickups from the 50s and 60s. In all our travels across Canada I cannot recall ever seeing entire towns that resembled these. After leaving the redwoods we continued on the 101 through the mountains to camp in Ukiah. The roads went from 4 lanes

The quick essentials about Greece to travel around!!!!

The quick essentials about Greece to travel around!!!!

Anywhere you put your feet; you come across some reminiscence of the history in Greece. And that is not only applicable on Parthenon, for its fuming buzz but for all of Greece, including the earliest Thessaloniki and Mount Olympus positioned in the north side and thousands of mesmerizing islands speckled transversely the Ionian and Aegean Seas. Only those who book flights to Greece can glance at its historical significance as it is absolutely inexpressible. Cicero was illustrating the beautiful old past times of Athens, that blast of arts, values, architecture and excitement. But time has put some efforts to revolutionize the indispensable Greece. Greece is bathed in sea on its three edges: Ionian Sea is surrounding it to the west; east is covered with the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea is on the south part of it.

Traveling to Greece from mainland Europe is quiet convenient and handy with many low cost flights to Greece cities and the vacation islands. The official language of Greece is Greek which is considered among the most ancient languages of the world. Euro is the currency of this wonderful country. It has the 10th biggest coastline of the world which 13676 km. Athens is its capital city. The perfect and most desired traveler’s spot in Greece are the Greek islands of Rhodes, Crete, and Corfu together with Athens which is the capital of Greece and a world heritage location. Mostly when search flights to Greece then flights land at this capital city. The major part of Greek population consists of Greek Orthodox which is 98%, Muslims are 1.3%, and the rest of religions are 0.7%.

2000 island are combined to make this country. Whereas mainland Greece also has ground area adjoining with Albania, Turkey, Bulgaria, and the earlier Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The perfect weather conditions of the country are offering the opportunity to get Greece flights of the year. Cold and wet winters and warm and dry summers are the best especially for northern Europeans. The fabulous weather of the country is perfect to grow

Japan & Hong Kong: 1939 Trip around the World (Part 2 of 10)

Part 2 includes scenes of the Great Buddha of Kotoku-in Temple in Kamakura, the cities of Yokohama and Kyoto, Japan, followed by brief scenes of Hong Kong Harbor and Canton Road, Kowloon. View all 10 parts: www.youtube.com Evelyn Reinhardt took this footage on her solo round-the-world trip in 1939. A history teacher at Southwest and later, Roosevelt High School in St. Louis, Missouri (USA), Ms. Reinhardt complemented her history lessons with stories and films (such as this) from her exotic travels to both Asia and Europe. This particular trip satisfied Ms. Reinhardt’s goal of traveling around the world before her 40th birthday. Indeed, she departed San Francisco, California on May 15, 1939 aboard the SS President Taft, and returned to New York, New York, aboard the SS Nieuw Amsterdam on September 4, 1939, twenty three days before she turned 40. Filmed in black and white 16mm film. No audio. Regrettably, the film deteriorated significantly before it was digitized.

“La Corrida de Toros, the bullfight” Sueschubert’s photos around Seville, Spain

Preview of Sueschubert’s blog at TravelPod. Read the full blog here: www.travelpod.com This blog preview was made by TravelPod using the TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow creator. Entry from: Seville, Spain Entry Title: “La Corrida de Toros, the bullfight!” Entry: “Animal lovers probably shouldn´t read this entry (or come to Southern Spain) Dear family and friends, Like other countries of the world, when one travels from North (in this case, Barcelona), to South (Sevilla) things change. Hotter weather, of course, which means the people are more laid back. It takes effort to move when it´s warm. And the culture? It comes in the form on flamenco and bullfights, tapas and sangría, gazpacho and more jamón ibérico (air-dried ham for which most of Spain is known), with some art and religion thrown in for good historical perspective. We were in Sevilla for 4 days and stayed in one of the neatest destinations yet, a building dating from the time of the Moors, renovated into very chic apartments. Glass and wood everywhere with exposed stone structures preserved from the original building. Beautiful, historical, comfortable and probably too sophisticated for us! Oh, and central. We could see via the map that the bullring was close, but it is quite disguised when not in use. Our apartment was directly behind it! A tour of the bullfight museum on Monday morning brought it all to life (or, in the case of the bulls, to death). Bullfighting is still very popular in Spain from Madrid south
